Round Rehearsal

Practice theme

Medical school MMI station

Practice one MMI station. Read the prompt, then speak for about six to eight minutes.

What to practice

Questions we wrote

Practice questions, not a prediction of the real round.

  1. 1. A classmate wants the group to drop a member who missed the deadline because a parent is in the hospital. What do you say that night?

Follow-up: What would you say to the member who is not in the room?

  2. 2. You see a friend use a phone during a closed-book quiz. The instructor does not notice. What do you do?

Follow-up: What changes if they ask you to wait until scores are posted?

  3. 3. A neighbor offers you an expensive gift after you helped them reach a clinic. They say a refusal would insult the family. What do you do?

Follow-up: How do you keep the relationship kind if you do not take the gift?

  4. 4. Two students need the one tutoring slot you can offer this week. How do you choose, and how do you tell the person who waits?

Follow-up: What would you still want to know before you answered them?

  5. 5. A classmate posts a hallway photo from a shadowing day, and a room number is readable. What do you say?

Follow-up: What do you do if they will not take the post down?

  6. 6. At a community meeting, residents demand a yes or no on a site you do not control. How do you speak?

Follow-up: How do you answer someone who treats a pause as not caring?

A structure to try

Is a live mock more than one station?

No. One station. About two minutes to read, then six to eight minutes to respond. A paid credit is the same single station.

Are these prompts from a school or a published book?

No. They are original practice stations. A real circuit will use its own prompts.
